Empowered Pathways™ Life Skills Academy

Empowered Pathways™ Life Skills Academy is a June-based life skills program designed to support participants ages 12–35 as they build essential life skills for independence, confidence, and success beyond school and into adulthood.

This academy offers structured learning, encouragement, and real-world preparation in a supportive and inclusive environment.

What Participants Will Learn:

Participants will build skills in:

• Communication & social interaction

• Self-advocacy and confidence building

• Independence and daily living readiness

• Understanding expectations in school, work, and community settings

• Preparing for future college, career, and travel experiences

This program serves as a foundational experience for future Empowered Pathways opportunities.

Community-Based Learning Experience

Grocery Store Life Skills Trip

As part of the Academy, participants will take a guided trip to the grocery store to practice real-life independence skills, including:

• Creating a simple shopping list

• Identifying items and reading labels

• Making choices and problem-solving

• Understanding basic budgeting concepts

• Practicing appropriate social interactions in the community

💡 This experience allows participants to apply what they learn in class to a real-world environment.

(Additional details will be shared with registered families, parents must be present for this trip.)

• Teens & young adults with Down syndrome, autism, and other abilities

• Transition-age participants (approximately ages 12–35)

• Families preparing for post-secondary life and independence

• $125 per participant (entire 5-week academy)
